Communication and interaction with living composers is important to the LCP musicians, and they are very much looking forward to their next tour to Japan in the fall of 2020, where they will perform the world premiere of a commissioned work by the austrian composer Johannes Maria Staud.
Their most recent CD release (the 3rd with the label TACET) features Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet and his Clarinet Concerto. The Ludwig Chamber Players’ album of chamber music by Sergei Prokofiev (also with the TACET label) was praised in the press as an “historic document of chamber music” and was nominated for the International classical music awards.
The Ludwig Chamber Players stand for enthusiastic, joyful musicmaking, combined with impressive virtuosity. The musicians come from 7 different nations, and each enriches the ensemble with their individual influence. LCP is dedicated to the genre of mixed string and wind chamber music of the 18th and 19th centuries, but also regularly perform contemporary works. The ensemble was founded in 2013 for concerts at the renowned Tokyo Spring Festival. Regular tours in Japan as well as concerts at the Schwetzinger SWR Festspielen, “La Folle Journee au Japon”, at the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Beethoven Haus Bonn comprise their busy season.
